empower young girls to discover a love for STEM

My mission is to empower young girls to discover a love for STEM, inspiring them to embark on an exciting journey in these fields.

HOW WE HELP.

Empowering young girls to excel in STEM fields

THE JOURNEY TO REVOLUTIONIZE STEM BEGINS WITH A GIRL

Growing up without encouragement in STEM, girls face tough challenges: limited access to resources, gender stereotypes, lack of role models, and social isolation. But with support from people like you, we can help girls gain the education, mentorship, life skills, STEM training, and confidence they need to create lasting change in their lives and communities. Together, we can empower girls in STEM for good.

About Us

Simar Singh is a student researcher, author, and STEM advocate from Bakersfield, California. Her research spans both healthcare and society, using artificial intelligence to address challenges in medicine as well as bias and toxicity in media. Her work includes developing AI models for medical imaging and for analyzing breast cancer brain metastasis, investigating solutions to antibiotic resistance, and studying how machine learning can detect bias and harmful content in journalism. Simar is a two-time award winner at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, making her the first girl in Kern County history to receive an award at the competition. She is the founder of Girls Got STEM and Bakersfield Biology Circle, organizations dedicated to expanding STEM opportunities for underserved students. Simar is also the author of two books and hopes to pursue an MD-PhD, combining scientific research and medicine to improve human health and society. She has also recived the honor of “Very High Commendation” in the John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize, placing approximately in the top 1% of entrants worldwide.

STEM journalism plays a crucial role in raising awareness of science, technology, engineering, and math issues to the general public, bridging the gap between complex scientific concepts and everyday understanding

THE NATIONAL MOVEMENT

Making History:

Breaking Barriers and Building a Legacy for Women in STEM

As the first girl from Kern County to win an award at the prestigious Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), I am proud to have made history and set a new milestone for young women in STEM. This achievement represents more than an international recognition; it is a step toward breaking barriers and creating opportunities for the next generation of female scientists and engineers.

Through this historic accomplishment, I hope to inspire young girls to pursue their passions fearlessly, challenge expectations, and recognize that they, too, have the power to make history. My goal is to build a lasting legacy in which I am not the exception, but the first of many.

Active and supportive community for girls in STEM

We’re mobilizing thousands of people to build a world where no girl will have to sacrifice her passion for STEM, her opportunities, or her dreams, because of gender bias or stereotypes.
